Free crypto CVD indicator: cumulative volume delta, live
Cumulative volume delta and delta per bar under a live Binance Futures chart for 31 markets, including XAUUSDT gold. The liquidity heatmap and footprint sit on the same price scale, so you can see why CVD moved, not just that it moved.

Delta and CVD in one minute
Every trade has an aggressor: the side that crossed the spread with a market order. Delta is aggressive buy volume minus aggressive sell volume for one candle. Positive delta means buyers were more aggressive in that bar; negative delta means sellers were.
Cumulative volume delta (CVD) is the running total of those deltas. Its absolute level means little; its direction means a lot. A rising CVD says aggressive buyers have been winning over the period on screen, a falling CVD says aggressive sellers have.

How this CVD is calculated
For each candle the tool takes Binance Futures' taker buy volume and subtracts the taker sell volume (total volume minus taker buys). That is the bar's delta, shown as the green and red histogram at the bottom of the chart.
CVD starts at zero on the first of the last 1,000 candles loaded for your timeframe and adds every bar's delta from there. It is drawn as candles, so each bar shows where CVD opened and closed, and it updates live with every trade. Because it comes from candle data, CVD loads with full history straight away, unlike the footprint.
- Timeframes: 1m, 5m, 15m, 1H and 4H.
- Hover any candle to read its delta and CVD in the readout at the top-left of the chart.
- The side panel shows the CVD of all loaded candles next to the order book totals.
When price and CVD agree
The simplest use of CVD is confirmation. Price breaking a high while CVD also makes a new high says the breakout is being driven by aggressive buyers. Price falling while CVD falls says sellers are really pushing it down.
Agreement is not a signal on its own, but it tells you the move has real participation behind it. That matters most at a level you were already watching.
Price and CVD divergence
Divergence is where CVD earns its place. When price and CVD disagree, the order flow is telling a different story from the candles.
Treat divergence as a reason to tighten up or wait, not as a reason to fade a trend by itself. It is most useful at a level: a prior high or low, a liquidity wall on the heatmap or a fair value gap.
- Bearish divergence: price makes a higher high while CVD makes a lower high. Price went up with less aggressive buying than last time, so buyers may be running out.
- Bullish divergence: price makes a lower low while CVD makes a higher low. Sellers pushed less than last time to get there.
- Absorption: CVD falls hard while price holds flat. Aggressive selling is being soaked up by resting bids.
- Capped buying: CVD climbs while price stalls under a level. Market buys are hitting a seller who is not moving.
Find out why CVD moved
CVD tells you aggression changed. It does not tell you where the passive side is waiting. On this chart the CVD and delta panes sit under the same candles as the liquidity heatmap and the footprint, so when CVD diverges you can look straight up and see the wall that absorbed the flow, or zoom into the candle to see which prices the aggression hit.

Delta inside fair value gaps
Delta is also one of the four parts of the tool's fair value gap score: a gap earns up to 25 points when the net aggressive volume in its displacement candle is at least 30% of the bar, in the direction of the move.
When price comes back to a gap, the side panel shows the delta traded inside the gap on that retest and who won it. A bullish gap retested with positive delta inside it is a gap whose buyers are still there.

A real CVD read on BTCUSDT
From the 1-minute BTCUSDT session in the screenshots on this page. It shows how to read delta and CVD, not a trade signal.
- 1At 14:07 a down-candle 1.5× ATR in size prints with 73% of its volume net selling: a deep red delta bar and a step down in CVD. It leaves a bear fair value gap from 84,001 to 84,067, scored 62.
- 2When price rallies back into that gap, the delta traded inside it is −6.43: sellers are still the aggressive side there, and the gap holds.
- 3At 14:42 the flow flips. A bull gap scored 95 forms on a 2.2× ATR candle with 5.1× average volume, which shows up as a large green delta bar and a jump in CVD.
- 4Later, price trades back inside that bull gap with −4.54 delta inside it: sellers are pushing into the buyers' level. Whether CVD turns back up as the gap holds, or keeps falling as it breaks, decides the next leg.
What it does and does not do
- Binance USD-M Futures only. CVD from another exchange, or from spot markets, will differ.
- CVD starts at zero at the beginning of the loaded history (the last 1,000 candles), so read its direction and its divergences, not its absolute value.
- Delta is calculated per candle from taker volume. It is not split by trade size.
- Crypto and XAUUSDT gold only.

Frequently asked questions
Is this CVD indicator free?+
Yes. CVD, delta per bar, the footprint, the liquidity heatmap and fair value gaps are all free for every supported market with a free Tradeskill account. No card, no trial.
What is the difference between delta and CVD?+
Delta is one candle's aggressive buy volume minus its aggressive sell volume. CVD adds those deltas up candle after candle, so it shows net aggression over a whole period.
Is this spot CVD or futures CVD?+
Futures. It is calculated from Binance USD-M perpetual futures. Spot CVD can move differently from futures CVD, and some traders watch that difference too.
Why does CVD start at zero?+
CVD is a running total, so it has to start somewhere. Here it starts at the first of the last 1,000 candles loaded for the timeframe. Switching timeframe moves the starting point, which is why the slope and divergences matter more than the number.
Does CVD predict price?+
No. It shows who has been more aggressive, not what happens next. Large resting orders can absorb heavy aggressive flow, which is exactly why it helps to read CVD next to the liquidity heatmap.
Which markets are supported?+
31 Binance Futures markets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB, XRP, Dogecoin and XAUUSDT gold. The full list is on the order-flow hub page.
