ICT Silver Bullet

How the ICT Silver Bullet works: a one-hour window, a liquidity sweep, a fair value gap entry and a draw on liquidity target, with honest limitations.

What it means

The Silver Bullet is an ICT model that only looks for trades inside specific one-hour windows (commonly 03:00–04:00, 10:00–11:00 and 14:00–15:00 New York time). Inside the window it waits for a liquidity sweep, a displacement that leaves a fair value gap, and an entry in that gap toward a nearby liquidity target.

Why traders use it

Combining a strict time window with a sweep and an FVG keeps the number of trades low and the rules clear.

Silver Bullet inside the window

Inside the hour, a sweep of the low is followed by displacement that leaves an FVG; the retracement into it is the entry.Schematic diagrams drawn to explain the idea; they are not market data.

How to identify it objectively

  • 1Use one of the windows, in New York time.
  • 2Inside it, wait for liquidity to be swept.
  • 3Wait for displacement that leaves an FVG in the opposite direction.
  • 4Enter on a retracement into the FVG; target the nearest liquidity pool.

Bullish use

  • 1Sell-side liquidity swept inside the window.
  • 2Bullish displacement leaves an FVG.
  • 3Entry in the FVG, target the nearest high.

Bearish use

  • 1Buy-side liquidity swept inside the window.
  • 2Bearish displacement leaves an FVG.
  • 3Entry in the FVG, target the nearest low.

What confirms it

  • All three elements happen inside the hour.
  • A clear liquidity target with room.

What invalidates it

  • A close through the FVG.
  • The window ends without an entry.

How a hypothetical setup is built

Entry

Limit order in the FVG formed inside the window.

Stop

Beyond the sweep extreme or the FVG's far side.

Target

The nearest liquidity pool in the direction of the trade.

A hypothetical illustration of how the concept is turned into a plan, not a recommendation. Practise it on a paper account first.

Historical testing

Not tested on The Tradeskill. The windows and the "nearest liquidity" target need exact definitions before a backtest.

Limitations: when it fails

  • Many windows produce no setup.
  • Targets can be small after costs.
  • Model popularity can change behaviour around the windows.
